LA PORTE CITY — Harold W. Wylie, 78, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 26, 1934, in Rockford, son of Myrtle Wood.

He married Rosalene K. Tjepkes on Dec. 28, 1962, in Grundy Center. She died Dec. 17, 1991. He was a fork lift driver for John Deere for 33 years, retiring in October 1991. Mr. Wylie served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Survived by a son, Bill (Christy) of La Porte City; a daughter, Myrna Shiver of La Porte City; five
grandchildren, Ben, Caitlyn, Taunya, Samantha and Teri; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer of Victoria, Texas; and two sisters, Darlene Hollingshead and Ella (Chet) Allen, all of Manhattan, Kan.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Ron and Bob Wylie, and Gary Wood; and a sister, Virginia Filloon.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at American Lutheran Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Graveside military rites will be held by the LPC American Legion USS San Diego Post 207 and the VFW Post 3983. Public visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. today at La Porte City Funeral Service, and also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
