OLD RESIDENT OF
WASHBURN CALLED

WASHBURN - Nov 2 - Sunday morning at 12 o'clock, occurred the death of Mathias Brustkern, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Annie Bahl, in this place, with whom he had lived since the death of his wife nine months ago. His home for many years was in Fox Township near Gilbertville where he was one of the early residents and a very successful farmer.

Deceased was born in Germany, January 25, 1830, and was thus approaching his seventy-ninth year when death called him. His father was John B. Brustkern and his mother, Barbara Hochgartel. His death was do to senile pneumonia with which he had been ill for two weeks while an illness of two years' standing of diabetes was the indirect cause of his death.

Six sons and daughters are left to mourn: Mrs. Gertie Kreitoe, Corning, Nebraska; Joe Brustkern, Emerson, Nebraska; Mrs. Kate Schilling, near Waterloo, Henry Brustkern, near Waterloo; Mrs. Annie Bahl, Washburn; Frank Brustkern, now in Alaska.

The funeral services will be held Tuesday morning from the Catholic church at Gilbertville of which deceases was a faithful member.
