Leo Mashek
Dies at 55
Of Coronary

Leo J. Mashek 55, of 1916 W, 7th St., died at 1 p.m. yesterday [Saturday, April 16, 1966] at Schoitz Memorial Hospital of a coronary occlusion.

He was born at Calmar, on Nov. 8, 1910, the son of James and Rose Hejlik Mashek. He attended the Calmar schools, and came to Waterloo in 1929, where he attended Gates Business college.

He married Jeanette Huff at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 7, 1938.

He was parts manager for the WCF&N Railway for 11 years and later credit and insurance manager for Schukei Motor Co. For the past five years he was treasurer of the First Iowa Mortgage and Investment Co. here.

He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the Pacific area.

Mr. Mashek was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church, St. Edward's Holy Name Society and the St. Edward's choir, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Amvet chorus.

Surviving are his wife and two sons, Stephen, a student a the State University of Iowa Iowa City; and Daniel at State College of Iowa, Cedar Falls three brothers: William Mashek of Calmar; George Mashek of Fort Atkinson; and Edward Mashek of Fort Dodge; two sisters, Mrs. William Hosting, of Cresco; and Mrs. Gertrud Laures of New Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services are pending at the O'Keefe & Towne Funera Home, where friends may call after 4 p.m. today.

LEO J. MASHEK

Funeral services for Leo J. Mashek, 55, of 1916 W. 7th St., will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Edward's Catholic Church. The Rev. Msgr. John M. Fischer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Mashek died Saturday in Schoiiz Memorial Hospital. Parish rosary was to be said at 7:30 p.m. Monday in D'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home. The Knight of Columbus were to say the rosary at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
