Zelma Maxine Grandon was born September 12, 1929 in Cainsville, Missouri, the daughter of Willard and Minnie (Parkhurst) Peterson. She died Monday, December 24, 2001, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, at 72 years of age.

She married Jess E. Grandon in July of 1970 in Missouri. Maxine was a waitress for many years at the Regent Café in Cedar Falls and worked in the Housekeeping Dept. at Sartori Memorial Hospital, The University of Northern Iowa and Hanson Elementary School in Cedar Falls. She also worked at The National Cattle Congress in Waterloo, Iowa, where she retired in 1998.

She is survived by her husband Jess, of Cedar Falls and two sisters, Willia and Loudene Zimmerman, both of Cedar Falls.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mavis Hamilton.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2001, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories in Waterloo.
