CEDAR FALLS — Opal M. Arthur, 100, of Rochester, Minn., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Sept. 28, in Rochester.

She was born Aug. 2, 1912, in La Porte City, daughter of Walter and Mildred Carlisle. She married Lloyd R. Arthur July 5, 1930. He preceded her in death.

She was a seamstress in the drapery department at Hughes Dry Goods in Cedar Falls. Mrs. Arthur was a 4H leader for many years and a member of Cedar Heights Community Church.

Survived by a daughter, Joan Jensen of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren, Cindy Jensen (Tom) of St. Cloud, Minn., David Jensen (Jane) of Decorah, Sue Knell of Salt Lake City, Utah, Sallie Buelow (David) of Cedar Rapids and Eric Jensen (Deborah) of Rochester; 21 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Hiler of Vinton.

Preceded in death by three bothers, James, Walter and Roger Carlisle; two sisters, Gladys King and Lelia Peterson; and a son-in-law, Arno L. Jensen.

Memorial services: will be planned at a later date. She requested that she be cremated, with inurnment in WestView Cemetery, La Porte City.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice or to Samaritan Bethany 24 Eighth St. N.W., Rochester, MN. 55901.

She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Opal was known for her unselfish love and concern for others. She loved children and the out of doors.
