Bonita L. "Bonnie Thompson, 58, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Friday, February 25, 2000, at her home, of respiratory failure. She was born November 15, 1941 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Alice (Brown) Jones.

Bonnie married Lyle Thompson on July 18, 1960 in McGregor, Iowa. She was a homemaker and mother, and volunteered for the Cub Scout and Brownie organizations. Bonnie and Lyle were also a host family for the Student Foreign Exchange program.

She is survived by her husband Lyle, of Cedar Falls; her children, Dawn Mary Hild and her husband Craig, and Dianne K. Schultz and her husband Gil, all of Cedar Falls, and James L. Thompson and his wife Anita of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Dillon and Cody Hild, and A.J., Kyle and Ashli Schultz; her parents, Fred and Alice Jones of Onalaska, Wisconsin; a brother, Roger Jones of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a sister, Jean James of La Crosse, Wisconsin; her mother-in-law, Alice Thompson of Cedar Falls; her sisters-in-law, Joni Briggs of Onalaska, Wisconsin and Janice Verdick and her husband Dennis of Omaha, Nebraska; and her close friends, Donnie and Karen Kneifl of Bangor, Wisconsin.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father-in-law, James A. Thompson.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2000, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.

CEDAR FALLS -- Bonita L. "Bonnie" Thompson, 58, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Feb. 25, at her home of respiratory failure.

She was born Nov. 15, 1941, in La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Fred and Alice Brown Jones. She married Lyle Thompson July 18, 1960, in McGregor.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Dawn Mary Hild and Dianne K. Schultz, both of Cedar Falls; a son, James L. of Eau Claire, Wis.; her parents, Fred and Alice Jones of Onalaska, Wis.; five grandchildren; a brother, Roger Jones of Minneapolis; and a sister, Jean James of La Crosse.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service.
