Michael Alan Pickett, 53, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Cresco, died at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 of complications of diabetes.

Mike was born September 19, 1958, in Harmony, Minnesota, the son of Keith and Jane Severson Pickett. He grew up in the Preston area and graduated from Preston Fountain High School, Minnesota in 1979.

Mike had worked for farmers in the Preston area before moving to Cresco, Iowa. In Cresco Mike helped others with lawn care and snow removal. He liked being able to help others and was a loving and caring person. No matter how sick he was at times, he never complained. He did enjoy collecting John Deere miniature tractors and collectables.

Mike married Sheryl Mathes February 14, 2011.

Mike is survived by his wife Sheryl; mother and step father Jane and Allan Krueger of Cresco; parents in law Stan and Winona Lauterbach of Waterloo; four step children: Luke, Joy, Harlan, and Zeb Mathes; grandmother Frances Gilbert of Ostrander, Minnesota; sister Sally (David) Hruska of Cresco; sister Linda Nesteby of Red Wing, Minnesota; brother Lauren Pickett of Cresco; four step brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and aunts.

He was preceded in death by his father Keith.
