John D. "Jack" Baker, 79, of Cedar Falls Lutheran Home died Saturday June 23, 2007, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Wadena, the son of Bert and Hannah Welsh Baker.

He married Shirley Potter on Sept. 6, 1948 in Oelwein. She died April 2 1994. Mr. Baker was employed with Rath Packing Company for 37 years retiring in 1987. He served in the United States Army.

Survived by three sons: Stephen (Marcia) of Crystal Lake, IL, Kenneth (Mary) of Waterloo, and Michael (Sue) of Sioux City. A daughter, Charlene (Bob) Morrison of Clarksville; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlette Jordan of Freemont, CA and a sister-in-law, Catherine Baker of Paradise, CA.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Doyle; a sister Elaine Baker, and a great-grandson, Christopher Bass.

Services: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conduct by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
