Nancy L. Hayes, 70, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Iowa City from complications following a recent surgery.

She was born September 24, 1936 in Waterloo, daughter of Walter and Marjorie Heinz Hemsath.

She married Robert E. Hayes Jr. October 1 1955 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Waterloo Iowa. Nancy most recently worked as store manager and sales clerk for Schilling Jewelers and Asquith Jewelers. Her primary accomplishments include raising nine children that resulted in 29 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; seven sons: Mark (Cheryl) of Marshalltown, Brian (Julie) of Cedar Falls, Scott (Cindy) of Waterloo, Bruce (Mercedes) of Cedar Rapids, Eric (Deanne) of Epworth, Joel (Anne) of Des Moines, and Paul (Bryn) of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Ellen (Derrick) Woods of Waterloo, and Ann Hayes of Washburn; 29 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother Thomas (Sharon) Hemsath of Grandview, KS.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patricks Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Waterloo. Public visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service and at the church for an hour before services on Tuesday.
