Verna M. Coffin, 78, of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 19, 2007 at her home.

She was born March 29, 1929 in Waterloo, daughter of Larry and Viola Schnieders Westemeier.

She married Howard Coffin February 28, 1949 in Waterloo. Verna was employed at the Electric Park Ballroom as a hostess for many years.

Survivors include her husband; five sons: Dennis of Waterloo, Dan (Joni) of Longmont, CO, Dave (Cindy) of Iowa City, Don (Mary) of West Des Moines, and Doug (Jan) of LaPorte City; four daughters: Debra (Roger) Truax of Albany, OR, Denise (Bill) Gehrke of Evansdale, Darla Coffin of Dallas, TX, and Dee (Mark) McDonald of Urbandale; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters: LouAnn Sheffler of Dallas, TX, Doris Westemeier and Mary Jo Schneider both of Waterloo, Mary Westemeier of Walker, and Sue (J.R.) Hendricks of Marion;four brothers: Bill (Rhonda) Westemeier and Tom (Mary Kay) Westemeier all of Waterloo, Leroy (Norma) Westemeier of Jesup, and Gene (Joan) Westemeier of Sun City, AZ.

Preceded in death by a son, Dean Coffin; her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Fecht and Helen Lamos and two brothers Jim and Don Westemeier.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4:00 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Monday.
