Daniel Reis was born May 16, 1919 in Napoleon, North Dakota the son of Joseph and Mary (Kraft) Reis. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo at the age of 81 years.

Daniel married Maxine Keinast on October 15, 1947 Aberdeen, South Dakota . He was employed with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Aberdeen for 30 years retiring in 1976. He was a life member of the American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the 14th Armored National Association.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine, of Waterloo: two sons, Bruce Reis of Missoula, Montana and Mark Reis of Waterloo: 7 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters: 4 brothers, John of Aberdeen, Joe of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Al of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Mike of Anaheim, California; and three sisters: Margaret Dutenoffer of Aberdeen, Odelia Burgod of Long Beach, California, and Mary Reis of Denver, Colorado.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Peter Reis; and three sisters, Madge Anderson, Francis Reis, and Barbara Reis.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo with Military Rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
