Mary O. Doering, 91 of Waterloo, died Monday, September 3 at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born August 9, 1921 in Waterloo, daughter of James and Bertha Collins James. She married Harry Doering on October 1, 1942 in Waterloo. He died May 26, 2008.

Mary graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1939. She worked at Hinson Manufacturing, Chamberlains and John Deere, retiring in 1980.

Survived by four sons: Don (Diane), Michael, Steven (Mary) all of Waterloo, Jon (Laura) of Ankeny; four daughters: Jeanne (Ron) Nesbit of Clive, Mary (Russ) Kinkaid of Shell Rock, Cathy (Tim) Hartz of Cedar Falls, Tamie Schellentrager of Parrish, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy James of Orange, Calif.

Preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Frank Mier; a daughter in infancy, Patricia; and a brother, Jack James.

Services: 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church.
