James Muehlbach Honan, 44, of Olathe, Kansas, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died at home February 14, 2000.

He was born July 28, 1955, in Kansas City, Missouri, son of John O'Rourke and Elizabeth Lucile Muehlbach Honan. He married Patricia Elizabeth Dowhower on July 17, 1981, in Waterloo.

Mr. Honan obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, in 1978 and was employed by Reed Cadillac, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Frost Tax Service, Mercantile Bank and Norwest Bank. He was past president of the Rotary Club and initiated the Gateway Golf program for the handicapped.

Survived by his two sons, Kevin Daniel and Theodore James "TJ," both of Independence, Kansas; a daughter, Jannette Elizabeth Honan of Independence; and two sisters, Nancy Suzanne Jones of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and Sharon Ann Cramond of Shawnee, Kansas.

Preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, John Anthony, Steven Francis and two infants.

Memorial services: Tuesday at St. Paul's Church, Olathe. McGilley-Hogue, Overland Park, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to St. Andrew's School Library, Independence, Kan., or to charity of donor's choice.
