WATERLOO - Elizabeth "Betty" Walker, 79, of 219 Kingbard Blvd., died at home Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, after a lengthy illness.

She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Fort Dodge, daughter of Walter E. and Ursula M. Ennis Murray. She attended St. Mary's College of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind.

She married Dr. John R. Walker on Feb. 22, 1943, in Iowa City.

Survived by her husband; two sons, John R. Jr. of Waterloo and Michael J. of Wilmette, Ill.; seven daughters: Deborah J. Petersen, Martha J. Johnston and Susan E. Crouse, all of Waterloo, Patricia K. Leese of Leawood, Kan., Marietta M. Walker of Cedar Falls, Margaret M. Hieb of Fargo, N.D., and Elizabeth A. Schoenberger of Waterford, Conn.; 26 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, John J. Murray of Atlanta; and four sisters, Evelyn Fitzgibbons of Estherville, Jean Porter of Oskaloosa, Anne O'Neil of Burlington and Sue Davis of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Kay Sehring and Mary Ambrose.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Services, West Ridgeway, where there will be a 5 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
