Wayne C. Hagenstein, 65, of Waterloo, died Christmas morning at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. He was born on Christmas, December 25, 1941, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Carl V. and Margaret (Maher) Hagenstein.

He married Shirley Jean Harms on September 12, 1965 in Preston, M;innesota. Wayne graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1960 and Trade School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1962. He worked as an auto mechanic in body and fender repair from 1962 to 1964. He then owned and operated Seamless Floor Co. from 1964 to 1969. He was a machinist for Waterloo Industries for five years before working at John Deere for 28 years retiring on January 2, 2004.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marty and Gregory, both of Waterloo five grandchildren: Blake, Kari, Melody, Larissa, and Brady; and a sister Bev Hadjikhani, of Woodland Hills, California.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Reinbeck Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation will continue for one hour before services on Thursday at the funeral home.
