Ralph E. Cook, 82, of Waterloo, died Monday, December 25, 2006 at the Elizabeth E. Martin Center Western Home Communities Cedar Falls. He was born April 1, 1924 in Caddo County near Apache, OK, son of Olten and Vera Murphy Cook.

He married Dorothy Jean Bentley June 17, 1945 in Apache, OK. Ralph served in the US Army from April 1945 until December 1946. He was assigned to the 46th Engineer Construction Battalion serving at Yohohoma Japan. He served as a staff sergeant in the motor pool. Ralph and his wife Dorothy farmed near Fort Cobb OK for twenty years. He was also a welder carpenter salesman and metal art artist. He was very active in church and was one of the founders of the Southwestern Evangelizing Association where he was president for many years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Phillip Keith (Carlene) Cook, and Elbert Gale (Brenda) Cook, both of Oklahoma City, OK and a daughter Jo Ann (Charles) Ritch of Waterloo; six grandchildren: Brent, Leslie, Lisa, Nic, Paul, and Colin; two great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Landon; three brothers: Leo (Patsey) Cook of Camino, CA; Charles (Darline) Cook of Covington, GA, and Henry (Linda) Cook of Edmond, OK; and three sisters: Marjorie Hill of Billings, MO, Pansy (Gerald) Durre of Cantonment, FL, and Elsie (Bill) Goble of Tyler, TX.

Preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Ruby.

Services will be Saturday in Fort Cobb Oklahoma with burial in Fort Cobb Cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Rigeway is in charge of local arrangments.
