CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Pearl Clarice Whitesell Asmus, 93, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Rosewood Estate, Waterloo.

She was born November 13, 1918, in Melford, Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of John Benjamin Harrison and Hazel Inez Ledger Whitesell. She married August Asmus on October 24, 1951, at Grace Methodist Church, Waterloo. He died April 26, 2008.

Mrs. Asmus received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI). She was a teacher, bookkeeper and farmed with her husband.

Survived by a daughter, Toni Wunder of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Emilie Wunder of Cedar Falls and Matt Asmus of Houston; three great-grandchildren, Camille, Celeste and August LeRoy Asmus, all of Houston; a sister, Eileen Acuff of Waterloo; a brother, Keith Whitesell of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by seven brothers, Delbert, Donald, Johnny, Virgil, Teddy, Fay Laverne and Albert Allen Whitesell.

Services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
