WATERLOO, IOWA — James Oliver Troemner, 88, of Friendship, Wisconsin, died Thursday, July 12, at Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston, Wisconsin.

He was born July 3, 1924, in Adams County, Wisconsin, the son of Adolph and Clara Serena Shetney Troemner. He married Susan Anna Moeller Aug. 20, 1949, in Sherwood Township, Clark County, Wisconsin.

He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1943. Mr. Troemner was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of War. He graduated from University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1950. He worked for Oscar Meyer in Davenport and retired from John Deere after 32 years of service. He was ordained as an Elder in 1960, and as a Bishop in 1966.

He is survived by his wife; four sons: Mark A. (Suzanne) of Hudson, Wisconsin, Gary E. (Terumi) of Okinawa City, Okinawa, Japan, Paul A. (Cynthia) of Indianapolis and Carl A. (Joan) of Centennial, Colorado; a daughter, Colleen (Howard) Fisher of Centerville, Utah; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Audrey Troemner of De Forest, Wisconsin, and Theresa Mallory of Granton, Wisconsin; and a brother-in-law, Axel John Moeller of Tacoma, Washington.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Freda Joy Troemner; and a brother, Allan.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Friendship, Wisconsin, with burial in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, Adams County, Wisconsin. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Roseberry’s Funeral Home, Friendship, is assisting the family.

James enjoyed woodworking, repairing things, reading, and helping other people. He served in many church callings throughout the years.
