WATERLOO, IOWA — Howard “Rudy” Jessie Farmer, 57, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 10, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born July 28, 1954, in Waterloo, son of Rev. James Arthur and Laura Lee Rhodes Farmer. He married Denise Erlene Austin Morgan April 4, 2003, in Waterloo.

He attended Waterloo East High School. Mr. Farmer worked at John Deere Tractor Works and attended Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Rapids; three sons: D’Eric Dixon of Stockbridge, Ga., Nicolas Farmer of Muscatine and Alpha Wortham of Dallas, Texas; three daughters: Sharae Jones of Milwaukee, Carla Hayes of Waterloo and Omega Wortham of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; two brothers, James Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, and Tommy of Terre Hautte, Ind.; and a sister, Gloria Farmer of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; and an infant granddaughter.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greer Funeral Home, with burial at a later date. Public visitation will be held for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family at 211 Newell St. Waterloo, IA 50703, where they will be receiving friends.
