WATERLOO, Iowa - David I. Thorson, 79, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 7, at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Cresco, Howard County, son of Severt and Blanche Lucas Thorson. He married Laurene Bublitz on Jan. 16, 1955, in Spring Valley, Minn.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Thorson worked at Rath Packing Co. for many years until the plant closed. He then worked as an agent for Shelter Insurance Co. He was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Pamela (Marv) Pagel of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Jill (Justin) Jacobs of Parkersburg and Ryan (Laura Gilbert) Pagel of Cedar Rapids; a great-grandson, Garrett Jacobs; and two sisters, Norma Denny and Dorothy Stoen.

Preceded in death by a brother, Robert; and two sisters, Betty Craft and Carrie McIntyre.

Private family services: will be held Wednesday, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel.
