JANESVILLE, IOWA - Robert Edward "Bob" Kofron, 83, of Janesville, died at home Monday, June 4, 2012.

He was born July 30, 1928, in Waterloo, son of Edward James and Mary Josephine (Bonn) Kofron. He married Viola Leona Steege on Sept. 9, 1948, in Cedar Falls.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 and the Iowa Army National Guard for 25 years, retiring as sergeant, with Troop D 194th Cavalry (Air), based in Waterloo. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 1984.

Robert is survived by his wife; four sons, Robert M. (Mary), Joseph (Diane) and Kenneth (Sara), all of Janesville, and Edward (Pam) of Cascade; and six daughters, Susan (John) Capazolli of Woodville, Texas, Deborah (Randy) Stanek of Manchester, Elizabeth Leoni of Eugene, Ore., Laurie (Tony) Gors of Waterloo, Paula (Bret) Wrage of Janesville and Margaret (Gary Barnes) Kofron of Albany, Ore.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Phillip Kofron.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Full military honors will be provided by Iowa Army National Guard and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
