Faye Winifred Fisher, 94, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, August 21 at Friendship Village Pavilion.

She was born September 8, 1917 in Waterloo, daughter of Ira and Winifred Badger Coonrod. She married Robert F. Fisher June 12, 1941 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Faye graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1936. She was employed as a telephone operator with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
She was a lifetime member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Covenant Auxiliary, the Elklettes and the Northwestern Bell Ding a Ling Club.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Michael (Marsha) Fisher of Waterloo and John (Margie) Fisher of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Mary Kay (Tom) Westemeier of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Cindy, Tim, Jane, Katie Faye, Rob, Joe, Mike, Tom and Dan and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann; a granddaughter, Sandra Kay; two sisters, Iris (Robert) Jensen and Shirley (Jerry) Damon and two brothers, John (Dollie) and William Coonrod.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Edward Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary and a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to: St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Faye and her husband, Robert recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. Together they lived a life of devotion to each other and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Faye was an excellent card player and her favorite was Bridge. She almost always won first place.
