CEDAR FALLS — Donald C. Rasmussen, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, July 2, at the Western Home Communities Windhaven Assisted Living Center.

He was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Graettinger, son of William and Esther Lande Rasmussen. He married Marilyn E. McGrath on Oct. 4, 1980, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Rasmussen graduated from Graettinger High School and attended Waldorf Jr. College, Forest City. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 20 years and with the U.S. Justice Department for 16 years, retiring in 1978.

Survived by: a son, Daniel Walters of Sparta, Wis.; four daughters, Sue Rogers of Tucson, Ariz., Julianne (Steve) Tyler of Memphis, Tenn., Janet (Lorne) Bidwell of Cedar Falls and Amy Walters of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Lange of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, William and Richard.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
