WATERLOO — Sherry M. Thomas, 54, of Waterloo, formerly of Independence, died at home Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 following a sudden illness.

She was born Oct. 13, 1957, in St. Louis, daughter of Archie Delmar Sr. and Joan Marlene Fowlkes Thomas.

Ms. Thomas graduated from high school in Independence in 1976. She was a renovation and relocation specialist and housing inspector for the City of Waterloo, retiring in 2003. She attended First Baptist Church, Independence.

Survived by two sons, Eric L. Thomas of Jesup and William Welch of Waterloo; a granddaughter; her parents of Waterloo; two sisters, her twin Terry Mochal, and Karrie Holt, both of Waterloo; and two brothers, Howard (Diane) and Archie Thomas Jr., both of Independence.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Wilson Cemetery, both in Independence. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Independence.
