WATERLOO — Arline Mina Zander, 90, of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in rural Tripoli, Bremer County, daughter of John and Hulda Prie Zander.

Ms. Zander graduated from Tripoli High School in 1939. She worked at Rath Packing Plant for a short time before taking a secretarial course at Iowa State Teachers College. She then worked for the American Lutheran Church Administration Office, Columbus, Ohio, and moved with the company to Minneapolis, where she worked until retiring in 1988 after 42 years. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Survived by two nieces, Karen (Dennis) Boorom of Crocker, Mo., and Verla (Darrel) Hinrichs of Waverly; a nephew, Paul Zander of Waverly; three great-nephews, Jeff Panek of Urbandale, John (Mandy) Panek of Bettendorf and Dan (Kassy) Boorom of Crocker; a great-niece, Tonya (Doug) Isaac of Omaha, Neb.; six great-great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by a brother, Walter Zander; and a sister-in-law, Leona Zander.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Waterloo, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Tripoli. Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, is in charge of arrangements.
