HUDSON — Robert “Bob” Fruchtenicht, 81, of Hudson, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at ManorCare Health Services, Waterloo.

He was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Cedar Falls, son of Will and Esther Thierman Fruchtenicht.

Mr. Fruchtenicht was a graduate of Hudson High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a farmer for more than 50 years and was a member of Hudson AMVETS Post 82.

Survived by a brother, Harry of Cedar Falls; a sister, Mary (Vernon) Cordes of Cedar Falls; six nephews, Jerry (Teri) Fruchtenicht and Rodney (Delaine) and Daniel Cordes, all of Cedar Falls, Jeff Fruchtenicht of Independence, Steven (Pam) Cordes of Westminster, Colo., and Jack Haes of Waterloo; two nieces, Joni Claussen and Jill Fruchtenicht, both of Cedar Falls; and many grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Preceded in death by a niece, Julie Haes.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Hudson AMVETS Post 82. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
