WATERLOO — Jean L. Iversen, 87, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at NewAldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

She was born May 24, 1924, in Waterloo, daughter of Wilbert Earl and Emma Louise Elsner Parsons. She married Oage Iversen on April 2, 1943, at the Aviation Cadet Center, San Antonio. He died Jan. 17, 2012

Mrs. Iversen graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1943 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity American Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for 24 years and also was involved in the Luther League, serving as a co-sponsor with her husband, and was a kitchen helper, committee person and circle member.

Survived by a son, Gregory of Kalona; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Jeff (Sally) Young of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, James; an infant grandson, David Iversen; a brother, Wilbert Parsons; two sisters-in-law, Alzina “Dolly” Parsons and Marian Young; and a brother-in-law, Paul Young.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday in the Good Shepherd Chapel at NewAldaya Lifescapes, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
