CEDAR FALLS — Karen K. Petersen, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at NewAldaya Lifescapes, Cedar Falls.

She was born March 31, 1917, in Guthrie Center, daughter of Fred and Ellen Hansen Christensen. She married Harry Petersen April 11, 1942, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 2003.

Mrs. Petersen was a graduate of Albia High School and Gates Business College in Waterloo. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild and the Women’s Circle.

Survived by two sons, Harry (Cindy) Jr. and Philip, both of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Becky Vauthier of Waterloo, Audrey Petersen of Cedar Falls and Annette (Dennis) Madiska of Berthoud, Colo.; five grandchildren,; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Delmar) Danielsen of Cedar Falls; and a sister-in-law, Elda Riegel, of Loveland, Colo.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Matthew Madiska; three brothers, Clayton, Fred and Paul Christensen; a sister, Margaret Christensen; and a son-in-law, Jerry Vauthier.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at NewAldaya Lifescapes Chapel, Cedar Falls.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
