CEDAR FALLS — Mary Lee Klein Olson, 57, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 11, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born May 16, 1954, in Manchester, daughter of Raymond "Ray" and Beverly Ungs Klein. She married James Olson on Aug. 1, 1981, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester.

She graduated from West Delaware High School in 1972 and attended Kirkwood College, Cedar Rapids, where she became a dental assistant. She then became a teacher at the University of Iowa School of Dentistry in the dental assistant program. Most recently she worked with special needs children in the Waterloo School District.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Holly Olson and husband Jacob Grell of Lincoln, Neb.; her parents of Manchester; three brothers, Rick (Susan) Klein of Scranton, Rob Klein and Mark (Janet) Klein, both of Manchester; two sisters, Kim (Bart) Haigh of Iowa City and Kari (Jerry ) Clute of Littleton, Colo. ; two sisters-in-law, Jane (Larry) Alquist of Hampton and Colleen Klein of Masonville; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lois Klein; maternal grandparents, Cletus and Evelyn Ungs; a brother, Kevin Klein; and her father-and-mother-in-law, Leon and Marjorie Olson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Manchester, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to autism research in lieu of flowers.

Mary Lee loved being with her family. She enjoyed photography, music and her pets.
