HUDSON, IOWA - Ruby M. Rhoades, 88, formerly of Hudson, died Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born December 1, 1923, in Gladbrook, daughter of Harry E. and Irene H. Reese Redfearn. She married Leo A. Rhoades on March 3, 1943, and they later divorced.

Ms. Rhoades graduated from Hudson High School in 1942. She worked as a waitress in Hudson for many years and was a member of Hudson United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Earlene) and Jerry (Sharon), both of Hudson; a daughter, Jennifer (Craig) Messer of Gilbert, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Rasmussen of Traer and Zonya Columns of Bella Vista, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet Niedert and Judy Billerbeck; a son, James; two grandsons, Scott and Chance Rhoades; and a sister, Katherine Pitts Krejchi.

Funeral services will be Saturday at Hudson United Methodist Church, followed by cremation with inurnment later in Hudson Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, and an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Hudson Fire Department.
