WATERLOO — John Hauser, 94, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Denver Sunset Home.

He was born Aug. 14, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo., son of John and Magdelina Loncarevic Hauser. He married Milka Vlasicek on Nov. 19, 1947, in Bjelovar, Croatia.

Mr. Hauser worked in assembly at Waterloo Industries for 20 years, retiring in 1979.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Kathy (Leonard) Bottema of Austin, Minn., and Nada (Mike) Franklin of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Christy (Jeff) Blount, Lora Bottema, Mick (Lori) Franklin and Alicia (Doug York) Franklin; and three great-grandchildren, Warren, Nicholas and Tanner.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Denver Sunset Home.

John was very active in St. Vincent de Paul Society and had a great love for woodworking. Having grown up in Croatia, John never returned because he had a fear of flying. However, that fear was overcome by his love of family, especially his grandchildren, when he was asked to fly to Texas to attend his granddaughter’s graduation from law school.
