WATERLOO — Ivan D. Turner, 59, of Waterloo, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 4, 1952, in Oelwein, son of Carroll George and Leota Belle Cummings Turner.

Mr. Turner graduated from West Central High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years, serving during the Vietnam era. He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in 1982, later earned a master’s degree from Iowa State and studied ay Rutger’s University. He taught at Northwood for two years.

Survived by his father, of Sumner; a sister, Kristy (Don) Jirak of Elk Run Heights; a brother, Jon (Annette) of Fayette; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Daisy of Sumner.

Preceded in death by his mother; and a sister, Karol Ann Daisy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with burial with military graveside rites in Long Grove Cemetery, both in Maynard. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard, and for an hour before service on Thursday at the church.

Memorial fund has been established.
