NEW HARTFORD — Gregory Lane Scarborough, 61, of New Hartford, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 in Marshalltown, of cancer.

He was born July 3, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Norman A. II and Betty Jane Butler Scarborough. He married Sherry Sawtelle, and they later divorced. He then married June Mareska, and they later divorced.

He attended East High School, Waterloo, and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Mr. Scarborough was a carpenter.

Survived by a son, Jeremy of Waterloo; two daughters, Jessica Sternhagen of Marshalltown and Kimberly Scarborough of State Center; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Norman A. III (Rose) of Dunkerton and Lance K.; and three sisters, Antoinette J. Sommers of Milwaukee, C. Sue Kyker of Des Moines and Jan L. (Gene) Niedermann of Dunkerton.

Preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Carroll Carl Sommers.

Private family memorial service will be held. There will be no visitation, the body was cremated.
