Norman J. Fitzpatrick, 89, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center with his wife Vivian by his side.

Norman was born March 4, 1923, in Danbury, to John Daniel Fitzpatrick and Ethel Towers. He attended Danbury Catholic School, then started working at Albertsons Tool & Dye until his enlistment into the U.S. Army in January 1943. Norman trained in California: 546th Anti-Aircraft Artillery (automatic weapons), 3rd Army. He served in the European theater of operations, Omaha Beach, France, Germany, Belgium and Battle of the Bulge. During his service he received four Battle Stars. Norman completed his honorable service in November 1945. Norman then returned back to work with Standard Oil and continued until his retirement in 1977. Norman married Vivian Gilfert Fitzpatrick at Trinity Lutheran Church in August 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian; his son, Alan William (Sheri) Fitzpatrick of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two daughters, Marlene (Richard) Haerle of Yorba-Linda, Calif., and Nancy Lee (Richard) Calderon of Trabuco Cannon, Calif.; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Norman also enjoyed his antique cars and working around the house mowing the grass and snow blowing. He also enjoyed going every morning to breakfast at the Village Inn.

There will be no services per Norman’s request. Memorials may be directed to the family. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is assisting with arrangements.
