NASHUA — Mary Joan Haasis, 85, of Nashua, formerly of Waterloo, died April 16, 2012 at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Clarksville, following an extended illness.

She was born in 1926 in Lead, S.D., daughter of AJ and Neva Gallup Mendenhall. She married Everett Haasis on Dec. 27, 1949. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Haasis was a 1944 graduate of Arlington High School, Arlington. She taught in several country school and was a homemaker.

Survived by three daughters, Dorthy Jamieson of Phoenix, Joyce (John) Trent of Des Moines and Dawn (Robert) Ruth of Plainfield; three sons, John (Luanna) of Waverly, Carl of Waterloo and Harold of Nashua; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Audrey Bergman of Dubuque; and a brother-in-law, Anton “Jack” Schmidt.

Preceded in death by two sisters.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, with burial in Littleton. There will be no visitation.
