WATERLOO — Bernice W. Retz, 89, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at ManorCare, Waterloo.

She was born July 2, 1922, in Walnut, daughter of Herman and Mary Albertus Klindt. She married Max K. Retz on June 22, 1946, in Arlington. He died May 16, 1986.

Mrs. Retz received her teaching certificate from Peru State Teachers College, Peru, Neb., and taught school for some years in Adair and Arlington.

Survived by a son, Gary (Jacqueline) of Waterloo.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Wednesday, all at the funeral home.
