WATERLOO — Lloyd John Wyatt, 79, of Waterloo, died Thursday, April 5, at home.

He was born July 8, 1932, in rural Butler County, son of John and Lelah Shook Wyatt. He married Genevieve Ernster on June 20, 1958, at First Methodist Church, Waterloo. She died Dec. 6, 2003.

Mr. Wyatt was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He worked at Rath Meat Packing Plant for 34 years, retiring in 1984.

Survived by a daughter, Susan (Jim) Zacharias of Geneva; three grandchildren, Jennifer Wyatt, Kristen Zacharias and Timothy Zacharias; and a sister, Bessie Backer of Clarksville.

Preceded in death by a brother, Harold; and two sisters, Mabel Anthony and Dorothy Stotler.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, preceded by burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Flag folding will be conducted by Iowa Army Honor Guard. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the family.
