WATERLOO — Mary Madonna "Donna" Mettner, 87, of Waterloo, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born May 14, 1924, in Chickasaw County, daughter of Ira and Cecelia Wilhelms. She married Harold Mettner in 1942; they later divorced.

Mrs. Mettner had her own catering business which included flowers and wedding cakes. She opened a Dairy Sweet for a few years, then her son built her a restaurant, "Donna’s Family Restaurant." She later focused her time on her involvement at Trinity American Lutheran Church.

Survived by a son, Dan (Brenda) of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Erika (Mike) Olson and Shawn (Echo) Mettner; and five great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Jessica Olson and Kennedy, Gabriel and Noah Mettner.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Irvin Wilhelms; and two sisters, LaVonne Nolting and Deloris Earhart.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity American Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church
