LA PORTE CITY — Grace Catherine LaCrosse, 101, of La Porte City, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born March 15, 1911, in Waterloo, daughter of Porter J. and Elizabeth Knippling Barnes. She married Francis LaCrosse on June 11, 1935, in Waterloo. He died Oct. 19, 1995.

Mrs. LaCrosse was employed at Hinson Manufactoring for 30 years.

Survived by a son, Jerry (Karen) of Waterloo; a daughter, Mary (Gene) Becker of Apache Junction Ariz.; four grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Way and Janean (Jeff) Craig, both of Hudson, Scott (Kim) LaCrosse of Lowden, N.H., and Rennae (Tony) Heiple of Madison, N.J.; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert Barnes; and a grandson, Craig Becker.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice.

Grace was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and had a passion for chocolate. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
