Richard was born November 8, 1951, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, the son of R. Bruce and Betty B. (Blyer) Hopkins. He died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Nashville, TN of cancer.

He attended Cedar Falls schools and St. John's Military Academy in Delafield, WI. He was active in YMCA Indian Guides and Boy Scouts. He was employed in construction and lawn care.

Richard is survived by his parents, of Cedar Falls; niece, Amanda Sue Fain of York, PA and nephew, Samuel Fain of Indianapolis, IN.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Susan E. Fain.
