Gerald M. Deberg was born March 9, 1920, in Kesley, Iowa, the son of John M. and Bertha (Knavel) DeBerg. He died Thursday, August 11, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1937 and went on to serve his Country in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married Elaine E. Koch in 1940 and were later divorced. He was employed at the RKO Theater in Los Angeles, CA following the War and in the 1960's moved to Minneapolis working at various jobs. He was a member of the Cedar Falls American Legion and AMVETS Post #49.

Gerald is survived by two daughters, Sandy (Dean) Siems of Cedar Falls and Margo Currie of Evansdale; son, John M. (Marlene) Higgins of Waterloo; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and three brothers, Ray and Don (Bette) DeBerg of Waterloo and Russell (Genie) DeBerg of Olathe, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Deon Griego; and sister-in-law, Virginia DeBerg.
