Hilda L. Newgard (1931-2009)

CEDAR FALLS- Hilda L. Newgard, 78, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 10, 1931 in Powell, WY, the daughter of Fred and Irene (Case) Pearson. She married Burton Newgard on March 17, 1950 in Waterloo.

Mrs. Newgard managed the Senior Activity Center in Cedar Falls and was later the Activity Director at Mallard Point.

Survivors include her husband, Burton; two sons, Wesley (Linda) of St. Charles, MO, and Kevin (Vicki) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Brenda (Mark) Murphy of Council Bluffs, and Peggy Newgard of Waterloo; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Darlene (Joe) Sassatelli of Urbandale.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Brascher and Wilma Nelson; and two brothers, Kent Pearson and Kenneth, in infancy.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Home (266-3525).

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
