Sandra D. "Sandy" McCoy (1939-2009)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Sandra D. "Sandy" McCoy, 69, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, January 28, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

She was born November 30, 1939 in Guthrie Center, daughter of Jesse and Maxine (Funnell) Salsbury. She married Milton Lee McCoy on September 16, 1988 in Cedar Falls. He died March 29, 2001.

Mrs. McCoy earned her RN degree from Allen School of Nursing in 1977. She was employed with Schoitz Hospital as head nurse in Rehab, and later was employed with Visiting Nursing Association in Black Hawk County, retiring in 2001. She was Past Worthy Matron of Cedar Falls Chapter #78 O.E.S.

Survivors include two sons, Kirk (Wendy) Orr of Jubilee, and Scott Orr of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Jennifer (Randy) Negus of Cedar Falls, Jill (Michael) Overlie of Broomfield, Colorado, and Theresa Swingen of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Trevor Swingen, and Brandon and Kaitlyn Negus; her mother, of Cedar Falls; a sister, Joni (Tom) Habetler of Lone Tree, Colorado; and nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her father.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Linwood Cemetery, Dubuque. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home, with family present from 5 to 7. Visitation also for one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Habitat for Humanity, Visiting Nursing Association, or Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony.
