George L. Peterson (1918-2009)

CEDAR FALLS- George L. Peterson, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

He was born September 16, 1918, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of George T. and Etta L. Halverson Peterson. He married Connie Bradshaw in 1945 in Burbank, California. She died March 29, 1969. He then married Wanda Bixby Anderson on December 26, 1996.

Mr. Peterson served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 26 years, retiring in 1983. He then served as a tour guide at John Deere for 10 years.

Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls, son, Ronald Peterson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; step daughter, Diane M. (Dennis) Schmidt of Cedar Falls; step daughter-in-law; Judy M. Anderson of Cedar Falls; six step granddaughters, Angie, Devon, Tina, Kari, Lacy and Mindy; seven step-great-grandchildren, Courtney, Tory, Brennan, Wyatt, Sarah, Brien, and Sadie; two step great-great-grandchildren, Ryler and payton; brother, Stanley O. Peterson of Robbinsdale, MN; and sister, Estelle Rholl of Germantown, MD.

Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with inurnment in Swan Lake Cemetery, New Ulm, MN. There will be no visitation. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church Building Fund or Iowa Hospice.
