[Waterloo Courier, Wednesday, March 7, 2012]

Albert Edwin Chidester III, who had recently moved to Cordele, Ga., to begin the position of laboratory supervisor for Helena Industries, passed away from undiagnosed heart disease on March 4, 2012, in Apalachicola, Fla. Al was born in Sedalia, Mo., on July 22, 1969. He spent most of his life in Iowa. He graduated from Columbus High School, Waterloo, in 1988, and St. Louis Community College with an AA degree in chemistry in 1998.

Al is survived by his mother and stepfather, Fran and Kent Guild; his brother, Jordon Chidester; his sister-in-law, Tina Chidester; eight nieces and nephews, Madison, Malina, Breanna, Jenna, Miles, Makenna, Jackson and Brooklyn Chidester, all of Waterloo; stepbrother Kort (Louella) Guild of Denver, Iowa; stepsister, Alicia Guild of St. Paul, Minn.; his father, Albert Chidester Jr. of Anamosa; his paternal grandfather, Albert Chidester Sr. of Evansdale; and by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Philip and Alice Downey; and paternal grandmother, Ida Hayes.

Al was a gentle, loving person. He was a good listener whose kindness, insightful, self-deprecating sense of humor and astute, good-natured observations about life will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A family-directed service at the West Ridgeway location of Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service will be open to all immediately following visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
