CEDAR FALLS — Hannah Verdelle Maakestad Reisetter Hoth, 99, of Story City, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

She was born July 1, 1912, in rural Radcliffe, daughter of William and Martha Oakland Maakestad. She married Harvey Espe Reisetter May 22, 1937. He died in 1953. She married Harold Hoth June 22, 1968. He preceded her in death.

She graduated from Radcliffe High School with a Normal Training Teaching certificate. She taught school for five years in Hamilton County, and operated a grocery business. She also worked at several places in Cedar Falls, including the Western Home, the City of Cedar Falls, and Sartori Hospital. Mrs. Hoth was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Radcliffe.

Survived by three sons, Thomas (Janis) of Cedar Falls, David (Marianna) of Westmont, Ill., and Mark (Jean) of Lewiston, Minn.; two daughters, Mary (Laverne) Severseike of Garden City and Becky Rolland of La Porte City; a nephew, Bradley (Carolyn) Stensland of Radcliffe; five stepdaughters, Joan (David) Hinton of Parma, Ohio, Marge Heiserman of Independence, Janet (Jim) Johnson of Eagle Grove, and Linda (Steve) Miller and Brenda Ropson (Bob Drinkwater), all of Manchester; a stepson, Jim Hoth of Waterloo; more than 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Theodore Maakestad; and a brother-in-law, James Stensland.

Preceded in death by 12 siblings and their spouses; a son, Michael Reisetter; and two sons-in-law, Steve Rolland and Roger Heiserman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Radcliffe, with burial in Radcliffe Cemetery. Public visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Bethany Manor, Story City, and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Radcliffe.

She enjoyed Bible study, knitting, crocheting and crafting. She loved entertaining her family and friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She shared her faith with her family and admonished them to go to church and read their Bibles. Blessed be her memory.
