CEDAR FALLS — Claus Johnson, 92, of Spring Valley, Minn., formerly of Wykoff, Minn., and Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, at the Spring Valley Care Center.

He was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Kesley, son of Steffen and Minnie Mennen Johnson. He married Janet W. Johnson Nov. 17, 1940, in Missouri. She died July 11, 2010.

Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo, owned and operated a grinding mill in Cedar Falls, farmed in Iowa and Minnesota, and was a machine operator at Libby Canning Co. in Rochester, Minn.

Survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara J. Johnson; three brothers, George, Ecko and Martin; and five sisters, Nellie Uhlenhopp, Fannie Siems, Ella Whited, Anna Stickfort and Ruth Sonken.

Graveside services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Public visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
