LA PORTE CITY - Coleen M. Lewis, 66, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, from complications of COPD.

She was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Waterloo, daughter of Guy and Leola Craft Christian. She married Merle Allen Lewis on Oct. 26, 1963, and they later divorced.

Ms. Lewis had worked as a field specialist for the U.S. Census Department.

Survived by two sons, Troy of La Porte City and Darin of Waterloo; a daughter, Dawn (Alan) Even of Jesup; seven grandchildren; a brother, David (Karen) Christian of Independence; and two sisters, Evelyn Fischer of LaVista, Neb., and Elaine (Jim) Ryan of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by her special companion, Donald McCarty.

Memorial services: 7 p.m. Friday at La Porte City Funeral Service, where the family will receive friends beginning at 5 p.m. Inurnment will be later in West View Cemetery, La Porte City.
