Albert A. Mixdorf, age 93, of Waterloo died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born December 23, 1914 in Bennington Township, Black Hawk County, Iowa the son of J. Frank and Alvina Fellbaum Mixdorf. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Albert was united in marriage with Ruby Arlene Negley on December 24, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

He farmed for many years in rural Black Hawk and Bremer Counties. He also worked as a machinist at John Deere in Waterloo and later at Viking Pump in Cedar Falls. Albert was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo and a charter member and former deacon at Messiah Lutheran Church in Janesville. He served on the board of the Janesville Telephone Co. and was a 4H leader.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruby of Waterloo; four children, Jeri Jenner Karr and her husband Gary of Waterloo; Jon A. Mixdorf of Waterloo; Jay (Kathy) Mixdorf of Clear Lake, IA and Jack (Sheila) Mixdorf of Cedar Falls; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille McAtee of Royal Oaks, MI and Eldora Negley of Azusa, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, JoAnn Kramer; six brothers, Luverne, Alvin “Pete”, Hilbert, Eugene, Richard and Norman Mixdorf and two sisters, Berniece Hamilton and Berdena Willadsen.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 5, 2008 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waterloo with entombment in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball in Waterloo and after 9:30 A.M. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Albert Mixdorf Memorial Fund.

The family would like to thank Iowa Hospice for their compassionate care and concern.
