Lily Patricia “Pat” Cox, 85, of Waterloo, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Prescott Nursing and Rehab Community in Prescott, WI. She was born January 23, 1923 in London, England; the daughter of Harry and Alice Botten Waughman.

She served as a sergeant in the British Army during WWII. It was during this service that she met and married John Cox on May 30, 1944 in Wallsey, England, he preceded her in death in 2001. John and Pat settled in Waterloo after the war. They raised their family in Waterloo, except for 1965-67 when they lived in Monterrey, Mexico.

She worked for JC Pennys in Waterloo for 11 years, retiring in 1976. They spent the winters in Rio Grande Valley, Texas.

Survived by three sons, David (Diane) Cox of Austin, TX; Robert (Margaret) Cox of Hastings, MN, Terry (Cheri) Cox of Enid, OK; six grandchildren; two great-grandchldren and one sister, Eileen Muscutt of London, England.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Alfred, George, John Waughman ; two sisters, Maisie Clark and Delsie Whippet.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Kearns, Huisman – Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
